hey guys,

soooo long since this blog has been updated so I shall do you guys a favour.

To my beloved ex-squadmates out there, (lol just kidding)

to my beloved squadmates out there,

as we hustle about our busy lives as mature year 5s,

I feel really very proud that some of us are still making the time for each other to go out for lunch and do some stuff with each other. (anyone want to take out tissue paper)

I know its always the same few people,

but nevermind at least, our squad is still trying to make the effort right (:

I really hope that more of our squad people can come for our frequent lunches such that we can talk to each other and update each other at whats going on and I can poke fun at zhiliang (:

Anyway, I think our squad eating place is AJISEN lol, the only lunches that I can remember is at Ajisen.

okay, now I become a CI already,

life in NPCC is like so much more boring without you guys.

without Haokuan plus (or rather I would say : HAHAHAHA) PT team at the pull up bars,

us playing Tower Bloxx in the NPCC dungeon at Malan Road,

and I still remember us playing badminton, iphone games and zhiliang acting as Spartan in the NP room then all of the boys got dragged out to be scolded.

so many fun times..

Cadet times, I will never forget our NCOs,

I know we miss those days a lot,

but time cannot rewind, we can only step forward.

We can only try and maintain our squad spirit.

I wouldn't go into the details of the camp,
We all know it inside out hahah :D

Without which, we'd never had been able to pull the camp off.

Without which, we'd never had planned the camp from December 2009.

The 101st post.
Dedicated to something worthy to be mentioned (:

Today is the guys' CC competition day.
There were a couple of unexpected incidents that happened,
And those lead to an undesirable ending by all.
But my main aim here is not to point out flaws.

I'd like to congratulate the guys' team.
Their training for the past weeks have finally paid off.
Though there were hiccups in the process of the competition,
What matters is having the determination to continue despite knowing that they cannot meet the timing and working together to complete it.

Giving up might be something that many would do.
But you guys did not, and for that you deserve recognition for all your efforts.

Seeing other units' flag flying in the sky but not ours,
Is definitely not a great feeling, we all understand.
All of you persevered because of your commitment and responsibility for the unit.
I can safely assure that we are all proud of you guys :D

Maybe to others, the end results of competitions are vital,
And that having placings/trophies/awards/recognition is the whole idea of competitions.
To me, I believe that the process is much more important.
In the case of CC comp, it has allowed all of you to come together,
To train, to bond, to discuss, to compete, to bring glory to the unit.
Having all of you working together towards one goal,
That's the spirit.

Guys, all of you may feel disappointed and that you've let the unit and us down.
But in our eyes (and hearts), all of you are winners already.

Don't feel too bad!
If you really do, try to assist the girls' team.
Give them tips/information or anything.
Afterall, we're a squad, a unit.
We work as one.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the officers, the ex-NCOs and anyone else who have contributed to this year's CC competition!
Thank you for all your time and effort!

I was scanning through NPAP 2009 pictures on flickr,
And it suddenly hit me.
Instead of dwelling on about how we didn't do ourselves and our unit proud for 2009's UOPA,
Shouldn't we do something about it instead?

I wouldn't lie through my teeth and say that I'm not disappointed.
It's a blatant lie, we all know that.

But let's take a look at it from another point of view.
Take this as another challenge that has been sent to us to test our limits.
This will be a lesson learn that we shall not take what we have for granted.
Cliché, but nonetheless, true.

RVNP have had a great leap from UOPA 2005 to 2006.
This just further show that even if you have sunk to a low point,
It is not impossible to reach your peak once again.
So let's just take it in our stride.

Putting the blame on others or yourselves will neither make yourself nor others feel good about it.
Neither can it change what has already been decided.
All we can say is either we haven't done our best,
Or our best is simply not enough, yet.

Maybe not all of you will put much thought into it,
Maybe some will, more than the others.
But at the end of the day, we all have to work as one in order to accomplish great things.
Because having only a few poor souls slogging their guts out is definitely insufficient.

Treat this obstacle as a stepping stone for us to prove our worth.
I believe in us, and may the faith, trust and hope we have for one another keep us going.

'Cos you know bangbang rocks.

and I remember the story I wrote for you during s2-s3 period. I hope it cheers you up to read it :P

The Battle between Wenting and Hell

Prologue

The fire in the dark forest crackled and slowly died, signs of a camp. The embers danced around two mysterious figures, hooded in the spooky moonlight.

“Release your spirit slowly and find the Element that draws itself to you”

“ I am trying” said Wenting. She focused on her inner self and slowly separated her mind and soul from the heavy material of her body. She floated into the darkness above and could see her father faint outline beside her. She was comforted that her father was accompanying her during her rare forays into the spiritual world. As she slowly gained altitude, images flowed through her minds like a whirlpool. Wenting was the daughter of the great Elemental knight, Mwen. As a child, she had followed in her father’s footsteps and had been born as an element-sensitive child. However, she had always resented her ability to be able to find an Element and to be a sorceress as she always thought that it was a sign of evil and witchery.

However, need was rising over feelings as recent news had arrived that the Hell minions were rising again led by the atrocious devil, Deep Voice. He was preparing an army to take over the human world. Mwen was getting older and could no longer endure the mind-sapping trips into Hell to destroy the evil to defend the peace on Earth. Therefore, Wenting could be said as the world’s only hope.

Suddenly, reality dragged her back and she was rudely disrupted from her thoughts. She was rising as fast as lightning over the world and in a matter of seconds, she soared above the globe and right into emptiness of space. She witnessed the Elements swooping past her and exploding into stars.

“Finally, the Elements have come to me!” she whispered in awe. All the Elements were brilliant and were very beautiful and amazing. She released all grip of herself and could feel a force drawing her closer and closer. She did not resist the force and flew towards the imminent Element that she would be destined with. All of a sudden, she saw what it was. The Element imbued itself to her hand and glowed there with such power that Wenting was almost thrown off her floating self.

In wonder, she stared at it and the image slowly shimmered to life. It was a duckling swimming in the pond with its wings outstretched. With trepidation, Wenting realised what that meant. She was extremely disappointed as she thought that it was the weakest Element that anyone could get. But then, she did not know that her power “The Duck Wave” would save the world from the danger that it faced from the dangers from Hell.

Chapter 1

Mwen knew that time was running out. He could feel his power weakening everyday and also his Element, Earth was only leaving a faint trace every time he tried to connect to it. Even worse, he had been having images of the activity in Hell and knew that his greatest enemy, Deep Voice was on the rise. He knew that Wenting was still not strong enough to face them and thus, it led to him being on the verge of desperation as he knew that Deep Voice would conquer the entire world without a Defender to guard the peace of the Earth.

In that fateful moment, he decided to step into the depths of Hell itself to face Deep Voice once and for all before the Hell minions grew to an invincible size.

He swam and floated into the sky, summoning Earth to his hand. He roared a almighty growl and Earth exploded into the ground. The damage was absolutely impressive and debris and grass flew everywhere. He rued at himself, knowing that 20 years ago, that could have caused the whole earth to shake and tremble. However, the portal was there. It shimmered to life and glowed invitingly for Mwen to step in. Mwen swallowed and walked inside.

However, Hell was not expected to be as Mwen thought it would. He slayed some demons that he saw along the way and advanced warily. In the end, as he neared the end of the road, he looked ahead and all that awaited him was an angelic paradise. He walked in, ready for any ambush that might await him but nothing appeared.

Suddenly, a man stepped out of a house.

“Welcome to our Homeland! You must be tired after such a long journey. I shall bring you a bottle of our greatest wine, the Throaty!”

Mwen was indeed weary after such a long journey and accepted the invitation after considering the danger and risks that it could bring him. He drank and started talking with the stranger. There were servants to massage his back and so on and soon days passed and years passed.

Indeed, this was the power and evil that Hell brought. Mwen had fallen into the clutches of Hell without even knowing it. The Hell stripped him of his godly armour and donned him with the corrupted red armour. Mwen gladly accepted the first mission given to him which was to kill the Elemental and an unknown power nearby on Earth.

Chapter 2

Indeed, there was another person in this world that had mysterious powers beyond understanding and comprehension. She was Mswen. She had always been the innocent and typical kid, surfing the net and doing some basic stuff that usual teenage kids do. However, all that changed on the day that she stepped into the beach of Ice. She could feel a strange force radiating about the beach that somehow attracted her to it. She could feel her heart pounding as she listened to the steady rhythm of the humming around the beach. She could not resist the flowing temptation of that power source anymore and walked unsteadily towards it. As she stumbled across rocks and pebbles, she could find herself walking towards a strange cave that appeared to be glowing with a faint luminescence.

Little did she know that by entering the void, she had destined herself to be the next Fighter.

The cave was dark and musty and stank of the sea breeze. She edged cautiously in the almost pitch-dark surroundings, wary of any creatures that may choose to attack her. That seemed to be very minor compared to what she was going to face in the next few minutes.

She put a hand out and groped in the darkness and almost shrieked when she touched a cold, hard wall. There was a faint light emanating from it and she slowly lifted her head up with trepidation. “Only the Destined Fighters may enter. Enter with Blood as the Sacrifice” She was surprised at the clarity of her thoughts as she seemed to knew exactly what the wall needed her to do. She bit on her thumb and blood spurted out. She pressed her thumb tightly against the wall, leaving a faint bloody thumbprint on the wall. The thumbprint glowed eerily and suddenly, Mswen was knocked back from a sudden tremor. Stones and dust flew as the door slowly creaked open.

As her eyes adjusted to the bright light that seeped out of a sudden, she could have screamed in shock in that moment she saw what was inside. She stood rooted to the ground as the seemingly cave-like woman turned around. The woman had been enclosed in the cave for thousands of years to reflect on her actions in the past and she had grown eerie tentacles and also, snakes were crawling all on her body.

“Come in, I won’t hurt you” the cave-woman spoke clearly. Mswen had no choice but to step in. As she entered, she could not help but notice a glowing phone on a rock.

“It’s a long story but Earth is now plagued with a darkness that cannot be imagined. It is devouring Light and Magic off this Earth this very minute although you cannot feel it. You are a born Fighter and thus, you are destined to fight the evil that is consuming the Earth.”

Mswen was absolutely shocked and disbelieving at this and thought that this must be a dream or something. However, the woman continued,

“It is this phone that will give you your powers. I know that it is a little hard to take it all in now but still we must make with haste as the evil continues to eat away at the magic of this land. You will be with a Defender for this holy cause. She will summon the Element to protect you as you try to defeat the Corrupted Knight but beware this person is powerful beyond imagination and it will take more than just mere skill and courage to defeat him in the battle. Now hold this phone and shout “Transform”!”

Mswen was intrigued but still she was too curious to reject. She took up the phone and held it in her palm. The phone pulsed with rhythm and life and she felt at one with it. It shimmered and glowed.

“Transform!” the moment she spoke the magic word, the phone responded. It gave out such enormous light and energy that it stunned her. The whole cave was collapsing but the woman was still there, floating and looking intently at her. “Tee-ti-teetee-ti-tee” the phone screeched and suddenly, Mswen felt an enormous tide of power swamping over her and could feel herself changing into the battle armour. The light slowly subsided and the Pink Fighter emerged, donning the full pink battle armour.

The woman was satisfied and said,

“Finally, my purpose has been fulfilled. Before I go, I will teleport you to your Defender. Remember , you two have to work together to defeat this evil that is overcoming this world.”

“Whoosh” Mswen felt a beam of magic surround her and when she opened her eyes, she was before a bewildered Wenting.

Chapter 3

Months had passed and Mswen and Wenting had formed a formidable partnership. They trained together daily as a team practicing their magic and swordsmanship. Mswen’s phone was gaining more power than ever as she recharged it daily with her powerful blasts of magic which enhanced its skills. Wenting was also getting better and better with her Duck Wave and could conjure up very advanced wavy defensive magic from it. It was now like a detached arm and she managed to defend them from a devil break-dancer that almost tried to head roll them dead. However, the greatest test of their partnership will come when they meet Mwen, the Corrupted Knight.

Mwen finally located them after many days of forage into the spiritual world. He spoke to them,

“My daughter, I am now the corrupted knight and if you dare stand before me on my conquest, I shall not hesitate to end your duck wave.” To emphasise his point, he turned on some Audition music and started swaying. Wenting was awed at his stunts and skills at which he twisted and turned and knew that he duck wave could not simply match his power. However, she was determined to stop all this nonsense and to destroy the evil of the knight.

Mwen was extremely furious and teleported right in front of them. With one superb twist, he smashed Mswen right into a tree trunk. Mswen fell unconscious onto the ground, leaving a terrified Wenting alone to face the enraged Mwen.

“Now I shall show you my greatest power by dancing with my deeeeepp voice as beat boxing. He went “ BU ZI ZI ZI KI ZII ZI ZI” and so on and began dancing like a seasoned superstar, turning on his head and so on. At a point of time, he even summoned Jerome, the world greatest opera singer with his throaty voice to accompany him. Wenting was stunned but she flew into a rage knowing that Mwen looked down on her duck wave. So she started waving her hand pathetically and to her amazement, she shot thousands of real live quacking ducks at Mwen. Mwen was shocked and immediately fled back to his Homeland and was gone forever scared by the Duck Wave Of Wenting.

This is probably the first time i am posting on squad blog and this is cause i feel that i should be contributing a little to the squadblog, thats the least i could do.

For these years in rvnpBANGBANGSQUAD♥ i felt that i learnt alot. Be it the hard skills or the soft skills, a big thank you to all who have taught me, my SQUADMATES and my NCOS.

Change, something unavoidable, and a continuos cycle. Everyone experience that regardless of who you are and where you belong too. Change in attitude, change in behaviour, even the most inevitable part of life, growing up is a change.

Squadmates changed me. A healthy dose of encouragement from you all is probably the reason that kept me going. I remembered myself wanting to give up, i remembered myself losing the passion in NPCC. I used to hate NPCC, I used to dread going to acts, i used to think that going fot CCA is an absolute waste of time. So, i understood. I understood how it felt like to be doing something that i dislike that much.

There is one thing that cannot be changed -- history. Time will never rewind back to the times where we were still sec ones, time will never go back to the times where we still had a choice. No we don't. The chance to start all over again is never there, things will never be the way, it used to be. From sec1s, to sec2s and the fast-paced sec3life and to us being the current NCOs. Be it we are prepared or not, i feel that that is something WE have to face, something we cannot run away from.

JIAYOUS all squadmates and together, we shall put RV NPCC onto greater heights!

Uhhhh I'll scan the notes into my comp and onto the blog when I install my printer LOL. (yes i just fixed my comp pls try to forgive me heh)

Meanwhile, I'll just type everything out here.

Hyperthermia (heatstroke)
When sweating, the body's natural cooling system ceases, the body temp. may rise to 40 degrees celcius or more. If not treated promptly by cooling the body and replacing body fluids lost through excessive perspiration, heatstroke will develop.

Signs and Symptoms
- High body temp. of 40 degrees celcius or more
- Flushed, dry skin
- Initially a pounding, rapid pulse which gradually weakens
- Headache, nausea/vomitting
- Dizzy, visual disturbance
- Irritability and mental confusion
- Altered mental state --> seizures and unconsciousness

Treatment
- Remove casualty to cool place
- Remove all outer clothings
-Loosen tight clothing
-Keep head and shoulders raised
-Wrap with cold, wet sheet and fan casualty
-If casualty starts to shiver, wrap with dry sheet, take temperature.
-If temperature is below 38 degrees celcius, stop active cooling
-Give frequent sips of cold water to fully conscious casualty

-If unconscious, recovery position.
-Call ambulance.

Hypothermia (FATAL!!)
- Opposite of hyperthermia
- Cause: Body tempertaure below 35 degrees celcius.

1) MILD CASE
- Usually conscious
- OR minor fluctuations in level of consciousness
- Shivering / feel cold

2) MODERATE CASE
- Victims appear confused
- Speech garbled
- Muscle stiffness
- Slow pulse and breathing
- MIGHT be aggressive

Treatment
- Cover victim with blankets
- Lay victim down absolutely still
- If conscious, give sweetened drinks

- If unconscious, recovery position
- Removal to hospital
AIM: to keep casualty warm

- Recovery postition
- Practical.

This will be useful for promo so pls take note.
Basically these are things we have actually learnt before but are most prob forgotten.
If there are any mistakes do point it out.Will be greatly appreciated.:)

Drill
1.NEVER give “dalam buka/tutup barisan kekanan lurus” on marching for WOC. Reason: This is fancy drill. HOWEVER, if the CIs give you, you can still carry out. Note the difference.

2.When we are marching in turun aka sedia position for rifle drill, “memberi hormat masa berjalan hormat kehadapan/kekanan/kekiri hormat” CANNOT be carried out. [These commands can only be carried out when marching in rusok position.]

3.NEVER carry out belok in open squad.

4.When we are marching to our front[dari tengah chepat jalan], “memberi hormat masa berjalan hormat kehadapan/kekanan/kekiri hormat”, “pandan kekanan/kekiri pandan” CANNOT and belok CANNOT be carried out.

5.For WOC, when you give a SUDDEN command to the sqd, it is best to ADDRESS THEM FIRST so that they are alert. E.g. “Sqd, tiga langkah kekanan gerak”. Instead of straight away saying “tiga langkah kekanan gerak” without the address “sqd". This is one gd tip for WOC.

Summary

Commands that can ONLY be carried out in open sqd:

-hormat polis hormat
-hormat senja ta
-baring senja ta
-angkat senja ta

Commands that CANNOT be carried out in open sqd:

-memberi hormat masa…
-pandan kekanan/kekiri pandan

Drill notes on MOI

Sequence of MOI:
Greet the squad:Good morning/afternoon.
Say your rank, name and the squad you come from:I am Corporal __________ from sec three squad.
*If they are facing the sun, remember to turn them so that they do not face the sun.
State the command you will be teaching:Today I will be teaching the command __________.
Give the English translation of the command:This command means __________.
Give a brief introduction of the command. [varies for different commands]
Tell them to form one line or a semi circle around you [varies for different commands: on the spot—semi circle ; commands carried out during marching—one line]:I will give a step-by-step demonstration of this command, followed by a full demonstration. Now, form one line/a semi circle around me.
After demonstration…
Tell them the timing:The timing is _________.
Tell them the things to take note:When executing this command, there are certain things to take note. E.g.__________.
*Ask questions to make sure they are listening and that they understand:Are you all clear on how to carry out this command? Any questions to ask up to this point of time?
Continue after that:Ok, fall in back. You all will practise now.

Give encouragement:Since this is the first time carrying out this command, I think you all did quite well.

-things to take note: front rank—hands should be parallel to the ground just touch the shoulder of the person beside you right marker row, locked—hand should be parallel to the ground six inch from the person in front of you,locked [tell them how to gauge six inch] {tell the difference in the fists for front rank and right marker column}, look at the right marker at all times, shuffle your feet swiftly
*need to ask for volunteers

-cut your action—turn to the front and bring down your hand for front rank and right marker column
-the only command that can be executed when we are in kekenan lurus position

-things to take note: actions should be swift—turn your head to the front and cut down your hand sharply

Sizing

1. Tallest on the right, shortest on the left, in a rank, size
2. From the right, shout the number
3. Odd number one pace forward, even number one pace back, march
4. Right-hand man steady, odd number to the right, even number to the left, ranks to the right and left turn
5. Form to three ranks, march

-sizing is given to form up the squad in such a way that the tall ones are standing at the two sides of the squad and that the short ones are standing in the middle.

Timing:
1.turn check, check left right left, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven diam

2.satu dua satu dua…/one two three four five…

-things to take note: after the first command is given and we need to move around, we must keep our hands locked by our seam line, [tell them the common mistake that cadets always forget to lock their hands by the side when moving into position], after fifth command is given, we march front.back.middle.
*can talk about the alternative for the second command

Kekanan pusing
-given when the squad is marching for them to turn to their right

-land on the left foot

-check. Right.left, left, left right, left, left, left right…

-things to take note: must shoot out your left hand and right foot when the timing “right” is given

Kekiri pusing
-given when the squad is marching for them to turn to their left

-check. Left, left, left right, left, left, left right…

COMMON tricks in drill promo

NEVER CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING:

1.When we are an open squad, they give “kekanan lurus”.
2.When we are a closed squad, they give “hormat polis, hormat”.
3.When we are a closed squad, they give “hormat senja ta”.
4.When we are an open squad, they give “memberi hormat masa berjalan hormat kehadapan hormat”, “memberi hormat masa berjalan hormat kekanan hormat”, “memberi hormat masa berjalan hormat kekiri hormat”, “pandan kekanan pandan”, pandan kekiri pandan”.

Don't fall for these tricks.HAHA.

[this is how i did to my first pair of boots and it seemed to work so yup..]

1. Put a layer of kiwi on to the boots. It has to be ONLY kiwi, no water. Has to be one full layer.

I don't know if what I'm doing now is correct or not,
Or if it will land in the grey area of what's right, and what's wrong.
Nonetheless, I feel that I'm obliged to say what I'm gonna say next.

Before I get started, I'd have to caution everyone that,
You might not agree with whatever that I'm gonna say next.
In fact, at the end of this, you might be cursing me,
Because you feel that whatever that I've said, is totally wrong.

But in my heart, this, is how I feel.

Here goes nothing.

2 years ago, there was this group of people comprising of 11 guys, and 19 girls.
This people came together by chance,
But what they shared for the next 3 years,
Was the fruit of their labour, their sweat and tears.

They were really enthusiastic,
Really passionate and were really driven
To make RVNP, the best that it can be.
They look up to their officials, proud as they can be.

And now, up to 19th April 2009, 2 years later,
The Drive seemed to have disappeared.
The Passion seemed to have been engulfed by the night.
RVNP, seemed a far-fetched term that is impossible to be achieved.

RVNP, far from what it is, many years ago.

I know that there are some of you out there,
Who feels that the NCOs are incompetent.
And many times, we have actually dissed them,
Be it in private or in public.

I know that we think RVNP is going downhill,
And that each batch after each,
Is getting from bad to worse.
But think about it,

Doesn't that make us part of the vicious cycle too?

Deep down inside each and everyone of us,
There is this little flame of hope burning.
Hoping that we will excel,
Hoping that we will bring RVNP to greater heights.

Actions speak louder than words.
Rather than crying about how our squad isn't what it is 2 years ago,
And complaining about how much you hate everything else,
Why not we actually take action?

And for those people,
Who feel that your competency can surpass that of NCOs,
SHOW IT THEN.
Don't just say it.

Bear in mind, what you can do to others,
Others can do it to you.
How you treat the NCOs now,
Might be how the juniors will treat you.

I also know that many of you knows what happened on Tuesday already.
But that doesn't really matter.
It doesn't matter where your opinions stand,
And of course, it doesn't matter what your opinions are.

Put yourself in the NCOs' shoes.
Think critically, about how they feel,
And why they act this way.
There must be a reason for their actions.

I'm sure of that.
And we, might even be the reason.

You've got another think coming,
What does the word, Respect means in RVNP?
Is it just another word from the dictionary?
I don't think so.

It doesn't matter if you love/hate the NCOs,
It doesn't matter what your opinions are about them.
What matters is, you ought to show your basic respect for them.
Simply because they are our officers.

I guess up to this point,
There'll be people who will be thinking that,
You don't even join us for PT/drill,
What makes you think you're in the position to lecture us?

True, I might not be able to participate in all the acts,
And I'm not gonna blame anyone for that, or give any excuses.
I know there are people within our squad,
Who judges me, not for me.

But I don't care,
Because I know that I'm trying my very very very best to make our squad better.
Simply just better.
So the next time you wanna judge me, take a look at yourself,

Are you giving your all?

Look, I don't need each and everyone of you,
To give 100% of your everything.
I know how exhausting that can be,
But at the very least, you ought to contribute 50%.

Not everyone is perfect.
There are points in life, whereby everyone feels like giving up.
But at the end of the day,
We still need people to pick themselves up,

And motivate everyone else.

So before you lament about how our squad sucks now.
Ask yourself, if you've given it your all.
Ask yourself, if you've let anyone down.
Ask yourself, if you've really loved our squad.

Truly, loved our squad.

And while I'm at this,

Since you're so free to read our blog,
I suggest you take up self-actualization courses.
It'll make you a better person.

Back from NPAP 2009
Guess some squadmates are still at CCK hahahah.
Anyway I'm here to express my feelings (sounds so emo).

So yeah, we met up at Clementi Woods,
Bus-ed to HTA :D
With Clementi Town/Woods

Basically we waited really long,
Before the ceremony actually started.
But I guess it was worth the wait, obviously.

It started with the supporting contingent marching in
With the flag-bearers, mighty and proud as they could be :D
Then the GOH contigent marched in, together with the GOH flag-bearers.
酷毙了plox

Our squadmates were all uber shuai! :D
I only managed to spot xinyi/xiuhan.
I couldn't even find RV Flag at first hahaha.
But I did, eventually ^^v!

I saw Han Cong swaaaaaaaying/yawning.
Then I was like, wtf at first.
Then I came to know that he was sick man! D:
Good Job, squadmate! :D

After the parade ended,
We cheered RVNP (:
Very very very high.
And we took pictures of our UOPA 2008! :D

Dearest Sec 3s 2009,

"You can count the number of seeds in an apple but you cant count the number of apples in a seed"
This quote talks about the potential of leaders, and to make it applicable to you all: leaders of the unit. Allow me to first explain the quote and later make it applicable to your own situation now.
There is a fixed number of seeds in an apple from the start when the apple grows and no matter what we do or what we want to do, we cannot change the fact that the apple has that amount of seeds, no more and no less. The potential of the apple in this case is set and known. Yet, on the other hand, we would all not know how many apples a seed can give when it grows from a seedling into a tree and then starts to bear fruits. The potential of the seed now is yet unknown.

To bring it closer, we have that fixed number of seeds, we have that fixed number of s3s in our unit. We cannot have 30 on this day and 35 the next, we cannot change the number of seeds and it is fixed. But we cannot count or predict how many apples these seeds will sow, grow and bear when they finally turn into trees and in turn start bearing apples and seeds again. Your numbers are known, but your potential is yet known, how many lives of cadets you all are going to affect, how many lives your are going to change and how many of the cadets who will look back appreciating it in future is unknown. Each of us as seeds can bear different numbers of apples in that short NCO/officer life. Numbers may be small but potential yet limitless. It doesn't really matter if I have the more seeds the better, but the better the seeds better. How many people you all have now I am able to count, but how many s1, s2 or future s3 cadets that your will learn to inspire, teach well, raised up to be good leaders, I will never know now. Each of you now have the chance to choose what kind of seeds you all want to be before you step on to be the trees of the unit, sheltering and educating your cadets. I want you all to reach out, extend your wings and max out your full potential in yourselves as leaders. I want you all to spread your fires of passion to your juniors, to share your knowledge and similarly bring out the potential in your cadets.

I wished I could have a manual of how to be effective and efficient NCOs, then people could learn easily. But there are some things/skills in our lives that cant be memorized, learnt from cookbooks or experiments. and I guess the whole feeling of NCO-ship is one of them. If officers have that special "Textbook to Great NCOs", we wouldn't be racking our brains every year, teaching s3s how to be good NCOs. I cannot tell you how your NCO life will be, because how yours would be would be different from your seniors and each different in our own way. I had 28 seeds, you have 30, I had only 10 girls in my squad, you have 11 guys. The differences are a lot and our NCO-ship lives will differ just because we are facing different cadets and we have different people. You have seen 3 batches of NCOs before you, what you can do is learn from those you think good and avoid those you think are not. Develop your potential to the maximum and always remember this few pointers: 1) an NCO with knowledge but no personality is like a nut without a shell. 2) an NCO with personality but no knowledge on the subject is like a jar without jam. It is time to develop your hard knowledge as well as your soft skills. Learning is very important, and continue doing so for everything. Learn and remember every thing that your officers would teach. They will guide you definitely on this path towards NCO-ship. How difficult or simple the path would be depends on the hardwork you put in before embarking on this journey. You are given now times to try, times to fall while learning at the same time, make full use of everything. Life will be tough ahead I do not disagree but embrace it. I believe that with 30 minds, 30 people's will to change things and 30 rvnp cadets' passion will make difficult things simple. I may not be going down to the unit that often anymore to see how 30 of you all will affect the change in your cadets in future, how things would be and how your NCO-life would be, but I will keep believing that there will be some people like me believing that things will always turn for the better and there will be people after me who will be willing and wanting to affect the change, to make the unit a better one. Again, I wish you all the best in your journey in rvnp, always do your best, always believing and always striving and maybe after a few years, you would be the seniors not sick of coming down every ITC, ROD and activities. Keep the rvnp family spirit going. (:

Yes, our last ITC as cadets just ended around 2hours ago.
Mixed feeling about it.
For one, I'm happy because I finally got to bathe!
JUST KIDDING, LOL.

I guess quite a number of us felt that the squad had become more bonded, right?
Though the attendance wasn't fantastic, but I'd like to thank everyone who had made an effort to turn up for the camp! I know the word camp isn't the most appealing at times, especially during this period of time when people need the time to study or probably, go home and play considering that it's the holidays.

A total scam holiday, but holiday nonetheless.

So yeah, alot of officers turned up.
Quite scary :O
And the Sirs' Sir came along too. This kinda make him our "Grand Sir" in a sense right? Hahahah lame.

Back to the mixed feeling part
I keep digressing, shoot.
Yeah I'm also :X by the fact that we're soon taking over.
Next year this time, we will be the ones giving instructions to others,
Reprimanding others about their conduct/discipline/etc,
& Stealing their flags LOL

OK I missed the opening parade due to crowd control.

Drill Commands (+ things to look out for)

Note: Whenever we have to raise our legs(to bang/tap) to execute a command, the leg MUST be raised to 90 degrees! Actions in drill must be sharp and not laggy. In drill, it is necessary for you to lock your arms at all times.

Sedia (Attention): Left leg raise to 90 degrees (foot pointing down) and bang！No horse kick!
Senang Diri (Stand at Ease): Opposite of Sedia. No horse kick!
Kekenan Lurus (Dressing): Cadets standing at front row and behind right marker raise right arm (parallel to the ground), whole squad tilt head to face right marker & bang left leg. Timing: Up-Check, up to raise arms, and check to raise leg (Make sure is 90 degrees)to bang! Actions must be swift and sharp! Only Command that can be executed next :
Pandan Kehadapan Pandan
Dalam Buka Barisan Kekanan Lurus (Open Squad): Timing: 1-check-1-check-1-check-1, every 1 in the timing, represents a certain action. 1st 1, Cadets standing at front row and back row take one step forward and backwards respectively (left leg to take the 1st step). 2nd 1, cadets from front and back rank bang right foot (middle rank cadets dun bang!). 3rd 1, Front row cadets raise right arm parallel to ground (cadets behind right marker don’t raise arms, even though the last step of the command is like kekanan lurus), Whole squad tilt head to face right marker. 4th 1, bang left foot! At the end of the command, distance
between rows should be wide enough so that the sir/mam/nco can raise both his/her arms, and walk through) .Only Command that can be executed next : Pandan Kehadapan Pandan
Dalam Tutup Barisan Kekanan Lurus (Close Squad): Timing: 1-check-1-check-1-check-1, every 1 in the timing, represents a certain action. Opposite from opening squad. Difference: Cadets standing at front row and back row take one step backward and forward respectively. After taking a step forward and bang with right foot(front and
back row), Kekanan Lurus(Cadets standing at front row and behind right marker raise right arm, whole squad tilt head to face right marker & bang left leg.)The only difference is that the timing of kekana lurus is replaced by 1-check-1. Only Command that can be executed next: Pandan Kehadapan Pandan.
Tahat Setia, Sedia(For Pledge): Timing: Check-up Self explanatory! Take note: Move your hand up sharply with the timing up (that means after check, you move your hand up sharply.) Thumb should not be seen! Only Command that can be executed next : Sedia
Sedia: Timing: Check-cut, opposite from the 1st command.
Actions must be SWIFT !
Keluar Baris: Timing: Turn-check, check-lup-right-lup. Turn to the right and March! Take note that you need to apply your static turning and marching skills (things to look out for).
Hentakaki Chepat Hentak: Timing: lup-lup-lup-right…! You know what to do, so I don’t need to explain, but take note that don’t horse kick and raise your legs to 90 degrees. Tap with your TOES lightly, don’t bang with your entire foot. Remember to lock arms. Only 2
commands that can be executed next: Maju, Berhenti Berhenti: Command land on right foot while hentakaki-ing. Timing: Check , Check is on left foot, so you bang with right foot and halt.

Maju (continue marching from hentakai): Command must not be dragged, if dragged, don’t execute. Command Ma lands on right foot while hentakaki, while ju lands on left foot. The command lands on two consecutive foots. After command is given and it lands on
left foot, bang the next right foot and continue marching. [Go try it out cause this command needs practice and won’t be learned just by reading!]
Static turning: Timing: Turn-check. A total of 12 commands! And is better to understand how these commands are given rather then memorizing it. So of course I am not telling you the commands cause you should be very sure with it already. Things to take note of: 1. When raising leg, raise to 90 degrees and don’t horse kick, 2. Lock arms, 3. Pivot properly, for e.g. When turning right, turn with youselves standing on the toes on your left foot, while standing on your heels on your right foot, and vice versa on when turning left.
(Sry if your don’t understand this, cause I read it and it’s confusing, so the best way is actually to consult a squad mate who are pro in drills)

"Dearest s3s and fellow RVNP cadets,

It has always been my pride and passion to be from RVNP and I hope it has been, will be and forever be yours. We hope today's session would be sort of a help towards a better future. I am sure that after today's session, you will know that many people are still concerned about what happens in RVNP and will forever be. Many of your seniors, ex-ics/NCOs and even present one will always care for your no matter what. As I have always said, keep trying, keep pushing and never ever give up. Never ever do that. The idea of giving up has always been much more enticing but the fruits of success will exceed it I am very sure. To be very honest, it is common for people to want to give up. I have seen lots of people including myself wanting to give up, but hang in there longer and your success will come. Your Mam Xinyue and I can testify to that, having been past coordinators, the need to juggle academic, CCA and everything makes one really feel like giving up. Pressure are always mounting but remember no matter how cliché it may seem "Diamonds are formed under pressure". I have done ITC planning till 2am even though I have tests the next day, cos I know that it is essential for my cadets to get the best experience. Life is all about making choices and juggling things that matter the most to you. You make a choice and you suffer whatever consequences that come with that, be it sweet or sour, but we learn from then and go on from there.

I posted some questions to your to ponder, and these 2 days in your holidays maybe the best time to think it over without the stress from school and everything else. It may be good to stop and pause your life, and just think what makes your NP life, what will make your NP life and what makes me where I am today. Ask yourself questions and find answers from within. What is passion? What does it mean to have pride in what you do? Does it mean sacrificing the friendships, camaraderie, or does it really mean stand tall and feel connected to the unit, the corps where the slight mention of it makes every ounce of you feel proud to be part of it, not apart of it. What is your passion? What gives you and your squadmates the passion? What is the reason your seniors have undying love for RVNP, what is the reason your Sirs and Mams can flock down to the unit no matter what, what is your own reason for being here, forced or u love it? Find answers to all your questions and NEVER fail to ask questions cos they solve queries and they give you the answers you may need to life. I may seem bullshitting at times, talking all so philosophical things but I really love this unit and really want it to be first. Not since I joined but I gave myself time to develop the passion and everything, and I guess this is the testing period for you all. RVNP has given us a lot, it is time to sharpen your goals, what you truly want from the unit, what you want to achieve, and just go for it. "We never blame the people to fall and falter, but we blame those who fail to stand up after every fall." Falling is not the problem, it is the problem of whether you stand up from it. Stand tall always and support will come to you.

We have spoken to your ics and similarly gave them some advice which our old age in NP seek to give, and hopefully you both parties seek to resolve everything from it. Give and take, lifes gives u things and take away things from you. Learn to give before to take. Do not expect past standards from your NCOs as every batch is different. Its not nice to compare every single thing but we have already pushed them to learn faster. Do not/ Never ever/ cannot/ forever never give up. The CIs cant solve this prob, not your ex-ics or ur ex NCOs, the key to the lock lies in your hands as well as the NCOs, both need to open both sides of the door to see the better side of everything.

Below are some communication channels that we have opened up for your in case any of you have any questions or problems that feel we could offer our humble help:

Your CIs will definitely be willing to offer help for anything you have regarding NP, please kindly state who you are first and refrain from calling at inhumane hours e.g. 3 a.m. I hope to see a better RVNP when some of us come back with our botak heads next year hopefully. This maybe my last mail since NS dawns next year. If you are like me that definitely feels more comfortable typing than talking, the mail address are available too.

this is my first time posting on this blog of ours and i FEEL EXTREMELY EXCITED.

not really but just to cheer u all up that this blog havent been there for no reason! tomorrow will be the NPCC ACES DAY relay. my own personal quote on that day would be SpeedWithJ haha go read the tagboard its super cool. i am going to run my heart out just like J Storm so dun be suprised if u see a heartturning roar of FLAME ON thats me.

matthew sprained his leg? highly plausible now jixiang is willing to run maybe good person. hmm did you all create the blog to talk about this stuff. if not then i am probably crapping and digressing all over the place in this hellhole?

ok. the main reason why i am posting is not to talk about telling you girls to get pompoms and start cheering for us.
NO i am not that hell of a zilianer.

its because of the new batch of NCOs. hmm. i seriously think we should have a heart to heart talk with them cause to put it across nicely i am pretty sure there have been loads of misunderstandings between our attitude and also their actions. i know this may be a bit fragile topic subject to controversy but i am just stating this out of goodwill. i think we should really tell them of our squad as a whole' personality and so on. cause i think that they are not really used to it and therefore we are prone to a few of the normal MISUNDERSTANDINGS which normally boil to a few hard gazes and even glares. well, this certainly aint gonna solve the problem. even i strongly feel that there is a very big gap in the type of connection that a NCO and his or her respective squad should have. we have not even reached the stage of really being frens outside of NPCC and getting to business during cca days. i really stress the importance of a NCO cum squads meeting. for the sec ones, i am not sure but for the sec 2s, i can really conclude that there is a communication gap we really dun have the communication across and this has led to a lot of misunderstandings. i know that this is an extremely volatile topic but i am a pretty straightforward person and i like to be the voice. all i hope for is a change in the attitude of us towards them and also their communication towards us. i hope that you people would take this into heart and really ponder upon it. for me, i feel that this would be for the interest of our next 1 year with them taking us leading us slowly to the pinnacle of success which is to produce good NCO ship to the next batch of cadets. i know this may be kinda problem now but i believe strongly that with the right attitude we definitely can achieve the success. i know some of u critics in which ever squad that may be viewing this may be dismissing this as a totally minor and irrelevant problem that can be solved with time but i strongly disagree.

just absorb what i have just said.

ponder upon this and i hope that u all will make the right choice together as a talk. for me, i think that the best route is to organise a squad meeting or so on with them.

ROD is over and.. ahh I'm feeling the shit right now. D:
NCOs not our NCOs anymore. It's so... wrong. WRONG, YOU KNOW! WRONGGG. But it happens, happens every damn year.

I still can't cope with the fact that we're sec 3s already. Don't you guys just feel so weird being called s3s? Like it was just few days ago we became sec2s.
Whenever I hear people saying, "4 years is a short time. Cherish it." Or anything close to that, I'll be thinking, "ah, it's still a long way before we really ROD."

But now? ~~I'm dreading our ROD like hell.~~
A lot of us are already feeling so heartache-ish parting with our NCOs, I can't imagine what will happen when I part with my squadmates.
The bunch of crazy people that I love so much :(

Shit. Rod is an evil thing that sucks all our happy souls away.

So, let's cherish the lessthan2years tgth, make the best out of it. LAST YEAR OF CADET LIFE OHMYG.
We're the most senior cadets in rvnp already, so we must act like we deserve what we are called. Seniors.
Not let our ncos & exncos down, make rvnp deserve its gold again, not let our snrs efforts be wasted, let rvnp soar.

I think I blogged what I wanted to say in my blog already so I'm at a loss of words now hahaha.

anyways, here's the story Sir Eric shared with us. in case some of you forgot about it or you didn't really paid attention. and it's also for the people who missed act (:

Carrot, Egg or Coffee bean?

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they got soft.She then asked her to take an egg and break it.

After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked. "What's the point, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity--boiling water--but each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?

Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate to another level?

How do you handle Adversity? ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN?

I wanted to rant it all out on my blog but yeah, there are some restrictions so I couldn't really say what I wanted to say there. So I'm resorting to our squad blog.

Friday was no doubt a very sad day for almost all of us.
I don't know what are the right words to say to our ncos now cos I know we can't make empty promises and make them disappointed again.
Sorry.

Sorry everyone for being so... selfish. For not volunteering because I have no guts to do so.

I'm sorry to everyone, I really am.
I'll do my best to improve, to yeah, 'get out of my comfort zone' like what Felicia said.

Thankyou NCOs for always believing in us even though we've let you down so many times.
Thank you for being our I/Cs and no, we don't think that you have failed as one.

I'm sorry (again) if I'm demoralising all of you.
Let's all work together to make our i/cs proud alright. Next tuesday will be our last chance, so we must show that we are what we call ourselves - thebangbangsquad.
Let them leave with good memories.
We broke our promises many times before, let's all try our best on Tuesday to make up for it. Even though it's not enough, at least we try.
It's just like what everyone is saying, we can do it, it's only whether we want to do it or not.

"yeah, this post is dedicated to my squadmates.

On Friday, we had our last drill session with the ncos, and sad to say, they were disappointed with us, very disappointed. Well, anyone ever wondered why they were disappointed with us ? It's the 3rd time already.

After reading minee's, wenting's and kuanyuan's blog, i went into deep thoughts. Okay, and in the end, i regretted demoralising some of your. This is beacuse after reading their blogs, i feel that it's not right to give up so easily, when so many other people are putting in effort for the sake of this squad. Well, there are ppl who put in effort, there are ppl who dun even give a damn about our squad's matter. I feel that in order to improve, we nid the whole squad to put in effort. Make an effort to come for acts, make an effort to shout, make an effort to try, make an effort to improve. And for those who don't bother about the squad(ponners,un-enthu dudes), i sincerly feel that you should think it through again. Why do u wanna come for act ? Just for the attendance? Come on, u have been in np for 2 years already. Throughout this 2 years, we have accomplished many things as a squad. Really, i believe that u have some feelings for the squad, even though you are not showing it. As what Sir Eric had told us(the guys) during itc, u can take two paths. ONE, you can enjoy this years in np, if you put in an effort to like this cca. TWO, you can always not put in an effort, and always reject this as your cca, therefore, you will not enjoy this years but waste it. RVNP can be enjoyable, or it can be hell, depending on how you see it.All it takes is only a bit of effort, just a bit, then you would like this cca more and more. We've promised our i/cs many times, but we disappointed them over and over again. It is not we can't improve, is we don't wanna improve(at least for some people).

As all of your know, tuesday, is the last official activity with rvnps3o7, this present batch of ncos. I know, most of us want a happy goodbye. So,can all of us, turn up for the act and win the recreation and prove to them we can do it? Think of it, are we going to let them rod thinking that we are one slack squad, or one united and great squad? This is up to all of your to decide.Last year was a happy goodbye, this year will be too. Like what staff guofeng said, we will need to work together to win this. It is a test of how united we are and i believe we can overcome this test together.

ROD'o8 is only a part of our np life, we still have a long way to go.

Are we going to be despised by out juniors and snrs, or are we going to prove to them we are not noob? Personally, i want to prove to them we are a great and bonded squad. BUT, the squad's fate is not up to me to decide, is decided by all of us, our ncos, the sirs and mams, etc. Our future, what we will be like,bonded or not bonded, great or slack, is determined by all of us

The NCOs has high hopes on us, we would not disappoint them, right?

Lets put an end to what we are currently now. Lets improve together, till then, i believe, our squad will turn out great

Today, our NP act ended in tears. We were really sad, especially when we were at the place behind D&T lab. However, we know that NCOs meant well for us, and they took great pains to try and make us bond. So, we must not gu fu them!!!Next Tuesday is the last chance we have to prove to NCOs that all they did is worth it. So everyone must jiayous in next Tuesday's act, and also for all the acts after that. Dry your tears, work hard and do your best! We must let the NCOs leave with a on their faces and happy memories in their heart!!!

Hello ppl here to update..As all of ur know, from today's drill, we can know that our drill isn't that FAN-Ta-Bu-Lous as SOME of ur might think...Seriously, our drill can be good if we put in effort. I know some of ur reali put in alot of effort..yeh know..like most of the girls. WElL, seriously, our drill can be good if SOME PPL put in effort la..the worst thing is, SOME PPL feel that drill is nt important lol, and whenever we have drill , the mou mou renwill oways like play play and nt serious e.g. 故意drag foot and laugh at the same time though other ppl and ncos called the mou mou ren not to. HAHA, some of ur think i am toking crap :x, i believe. But ppl, if everyone put in effort, we can produce good attitude,good drill, and won't um.. lose face? in frnt of other people like the Ncc ppl, and the snrs will be pruod of us and we would oso be proud of ourself la, and we can be good snrs! some ppl onli need to be more serioous then we can have good drill lol. Well, i seriosly feel that our homad thingy quite good for first timer:).

the date is 26thDEC . (wed) :D n the time's not confirmed yet .
currently still not sure which venue . so shall have a voting :D
the choice is between SENTOSA & ICE-SKATING :D
the entrance fee for sentosa is $3 while ice-skating will be $14+ per person in a grp of 4. (unlimited play)
and if we cant form perfect grps of 4 den 1 person has to pay around the same price but only can play for 2hrs ._.
